King's CRF Lead Nurse wins prestigious award

King's CRF Lead Nurse wins prestigious award

Congratulations to Dani Nebres, Lead Nurse at the King’s Clinical Research Facility (CRF), for winning the prestigious Cavell Star Award.

The Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who demonstrate exceptional care to their patients, patients’ families or their colleagues.

Dani was recognised for his work assisting with a drive to collect expired medical kits that could still be used in war-torn Ukraine. Through Dani’s leadership, approximately eight boxes of medical supplies – items that would have otherwise gone to waste – were gathered and delivered to a charity organisation, to be sent to Ukraine to support those in desperate need of medical care.

Reflecting on his award win, Dani said:

“It’s really humbling, being recognised by the people I work alongside every day means a lot. It’s a reminder that supporting each other, even in small ways, makes a big difference. I feel proud and grateful to be part of such a thoughtful and hardworking team.

“We support each other, we learn from one another, and together we create a safe, caring space for the people who take part in research. None of it would be possible without that shared commitment.”

His colleague, Amelia, added:

“Dani’s dedication to helping colleagues and those affected by conflict, his ability to mobilise others to act, and his proactive approach in helping out on any urgent requests from colleagues who are in need made him a standout candidate for the Cavell Star Award.

“For this particular work, he has had a direct impact on the lives of many and exemplifies the values of compassion, service and community care.”
