Dani Nebres, Lead Nurse at the NIHR Clinical Research Facility: King’s, has been awarded a ‘King’s Stars’ Award for his compassionate leadership and strong commitment to equity.
The King’s Star Awards are hosted by King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and recognises individuals and teams who have excelled in their roles by delivering outstanding patient care and services.
Dani was nominated by a colleague who described his approach as “thoughtful, inclusive, and grounded in both evidence and lived experience” and that he “promotes a culture of compassion, accountability, and continuous learning.”
As one of the Florence Nightingale Leadership Scholars, Dani has strengthened his leadership capabilities and translated this learning into practice, supporting improvements that enhance patient experience, staff engagement, and service delivery.
Dani was recognised for his ability to inspire others, while maintaining a clear focus on patient-centred care, and was noted as being a “dedicated and forward-thinking leader whose contribution continues to make a positive and lasting difference to both patients and the healthcare system.”
His nomination also recognised efforts beyond his immediate role, including when he coordinated the collection of expired medical supplies and arranged their shipment to Ukraine. This ensured that resources which would otherwise go to waste were redirected to support healthcare in a crisis setting, showing remarkable initiative, social responsibility, and a commitment to global health equity.
Dani was presented his award and certificate at a ceremony last week by Trust Executives and colleagues:
