CRF Induction

Before you can use the facilities at the NIHR King’s Clinical Research Facility, you will need to have an induction. This will take about an hour, and we encourage you and your team to do this together, if possible (maximum of five people at a time).

To arrange an induction with us, please send over the below documents to kingscrf@kcl.ac.uk.

Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate

If you do not have this, and you are employed by a King’s Health Partners (KHP) organisation, you can complete your GCP training here.

If you are not employed by a KHP organisation, please visit the NIHR website for GCP training.

Please note: GCP must be completed in the UK as regulations vary worldwide.

Research CV

This includes your signature and demonstrates that you are qualified by education, training and experience to conduct the research.

If you do not have a research CV, please find an example CV here.

Completion of fire safety training

Please send us details of completion of fire safety training from King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. If you do not have this, please let us know as this training can be incorporated into the induction.

MRI safety training certificate

Please note this certificate is only needed if your study will be using the imaging facility. You can book onto the MRI safety training here.

If you’re not directly employed by King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we will also need to see the below:

  • An honorary contract with King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • A Research Passport obtained from your substantive employer’s Research and Development (R&D) department. If you are a student at King’s College London, you will need a Research Passport from the Joint Research & Development Office of IoPPN and SLAM.
  • KHP Passport – For those employed within King’s Heath Partners (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust or King’s College London), a KHP Passport can be obtained instead. You can do this by contacting the HR department of where you hold a substantive contract and then getting this signed off by the clinical department where you wish to work.

Once all of these have been received, we will send you relevant information such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and arrange your induction for a suitable date/time.

This will be dependent on the business needs of the facility; however, we aim to be as flexible as possible.
